Darrell Warren  Jesse
Darrell Warren Jesse, age 79, died March 24, 2018 at home with his wife Anne by his side, in Lakewood, Washington.

Darrell was born August 17, 1938, in Portland, Oregon, the eldest of the three children of Archie and Henrietta Jesse. He attended Columbia Prep in Portland and graduated from Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, Washington. He earned an engineering degree in 1960 from Gonzaga University, where he met Anne, his wife of 57 years. Darrell later earned a Master of Business Administration, also from Gonzaga.

His career as an engineer began with Bethlehem Steel, and in 1976 Darrell founded Jesse Engineering Company, which he built into the business that it is today. He was well-liked and he respected his employees.

In addition to Anne, Darrell is survived by his sons, Darrell Horther Jesse and Philip Horther Jesse (Anne-Marie); daughter, Anna Colasuonno (Jon); grandchildren, Caitlin, Claire (Lincoln), Philip, Maria, Jennifer, Joseph, Andrew & J.T.; great-grandson, Hank; sisters-in-law, Susan Horther and Mary Young; daughter-in-law, Peggy Jesse; brother, Eldon (Ann Marie); sister, Myrna Daly (Robert); and nieces and nephews, Elise (Henry), the Reverend David Young, Mary (Bill), Brenon (Jen), Shawn (Kimberly), Erika, Alana and Brian.

Darrell was committed to serving his family, church and community. He was an active member of the Holy Rosary parish, serving on its finance council for many years. In 2006, Darrell received the Archbishop’s Award from the Fulcrum Foundation for his efforts toward making Catholic education accessible for all. In 2016, he became a member of the Order of the Knights of Malta.

Fishing at Westport was a favorite activity. He was a member of the Tacoma Country and Golf Club as well as Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert. He enjoyed meetings of the Cascade Club and the Select Ventures investment club, and he was a big fan of Gonzaga basketball.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 512 South 30th Street, Tacoma, on Tuesday April 3rd. The Rosary will be said at 10:00am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
