Obituary for Eileen C. Zawislak

Eileen C. Zawislak (Holme) Eileen was born on December 14, 1945 in Tacoma to Susie and Ole Holme who preceded her in death. She peacefully went to be with the Lord at age 65 on June 1, 2011 after putting up an amazing ten-year battle against cancer and leukemia.

Eileen married the love of her life, Frank Zawislak on October 10, 1964. She is survived by Frank, and their two children, son Timothy and his wife Lisa, and daughter Lisa and her husband Christopher. Eileen adored her five grandchildren Amber (20), Ryan (18), Joseph (17), Breanna (13) and Cameron (11). She also leaves behind two wonderful brothers, David (Diane) and Victor (Barbara), as well as close sisters- and brothers-in-law, Genie, aka "Sarge" (Bill), Edward (Karen), Martin, and John (Marlene), and dozens of dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Eileen graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School in 1964 and worked as a successful sales rep. for 15 years. Eileen was passionate about family and friends and lived in a way that made us all want to emulate her character, kindness and strength. Eileen had a strong faith, loved people, life and especially Frankie. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. Our entire family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. McCroskey and the professional and caring staff of doctors and nurses at Rainier Oncology, Good Sam 4th floor oncology, Sherry Wages and all the nurses and staff, the Infusion Center Staff and MultiCare Hospice. Over 10 years of professionalism and compassionate care we will never forget.

We will celebrate Eileen's life on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. John of the Woods Catholic Church in Midland, 9903 24th Ave. E., Tacoma, WA. 98445. Rosary will be recited at 10:00am, Funeral Mass at 10:30am, followed by a reception at 11:30am, and family burial service at 1:30pm. Please "wear what you wear" and "drive what you drive". Simply put, it is a special day to celebrate a "special, classy lady". Please make donations to the cancer or leukemia charity of your choice.
