Frank Michael Doherty was born on December 4, 1931 to John and Rose (Ferry) Doherty. Frank was very proud of his Irish heritage. Frank passed away on March 12, 2017 at Tacoma General Hospital.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joan; his children, Mike and Olivia; Steve and Cathy; Patrick and Melinda; Diane Doherty and Elizabeth and Jerry Walle. He is survived by his 15 grandchildren: Megan, Michaela, Joseph, Drew, Kyle, Stevie, Erin, Casey, Jacob, Frank, Daniel, Annabelle, Jack, Blake and Nicole. He is also survived by his sisters, Rosemarie Price and Grace Hart and a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends. Frank was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Frank attended Holy Cross, Mason and Stadium schools. He served as a cook in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, followed by successful career in the food sales industry. Frank was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. His deep faith and generous nature lives on in his children and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Parish, North 12th and “J” Streets in Tacoma with reception following. Graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
