Obituary for Bernice Navarre

Bernice  Navarre
Bernice M Navarre long time resident of Pierce County passed away peacefully on June 9 at 93 years of age. She was a resident of DuPont, Washington since 1959. Being an army wife of a WW2 and Korean War veteran she supported her husband through some of the toughest years of our country and later traveled extensively raising three sons. All the while Bernice served in many volunteer and community roles both stateside and overseas. She especially enjoyed cooking f and providing a warm and nurturing home for her family. Bernice loved to play Bingo and had an uncanny knack for winning even. It was said that she had a Bingo game named after her and she played with in weeks of her passing away. Of some of the organizations Bernice was involved with, the Catholic daughters of America, Our Lady of the Lakes Court #1850, the American Legion auxiliary post #187, the Army Retired Officer Wives Association, the DuPont Community Garden Club and Fort Lewis Women’s Bowling League. Bernice also worked a number of years in the Clover Park school district and with abused children and families at Madigan Army Medical Center. Whether it be community service, club activity, charity or just friendship, Bernice made an impact in the many lives she touched.

Bernice is survived by her husband Christopher, sons Michael and Vincent and their wives Peggy and Sarah, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Bernice will be remembered for being a devoted wife and loving mother to her family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 25 at 1 PM in the Willow chapel at Mountain View memorial park.
