Carol Darlene Merrick was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Tacoma and passed away Oct. 2, 2017 also in Tacoma. Carol loved the outdoors, traveling, snow skiing, bicycling and gardening.

Carol graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School, then St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1952 and began a nursing career that spanned over 40 years.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband Jay and mother Joyce Marler. She is survived by son, Dan Merrick; daughter, Marianne Steen (Ron); brother, Dan Johnson; grandchildren, Stephanie and Zach Merrick.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7112 So. 12th St. Tacoma, WA, with a reception to follow. Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
