Geraldine M. (Walsh-Smith) Zinda

October 9, 1914 – April 5, 2015



Born in Stevens Point, WI to Patrick and Mary Walsh. Graduated from Emerson High School in Stevens Point in June, 1932 and from The Packard Commercial School in New York City in 1933. She was initially employed by The Sentry Insurance Company in Stevens Point and St. Louis, MO.

She married Wm P. Smith of Gleason, WI on July 17, 1937. They had 5 children: Patrick (Diane) Smith of Corvallis, OR; Jane Finch of Seattle; Jim (Mary) Smith of Tacoma; Bob (Debi) Smith of Fox Island; and Susan (Jim) Lundy of Portland, OR. Gerry married Raymond Zinda of Stevens Point on April 15, 1973 where they resided until his death in 1982. At that time she moved to Puyallup, WA. She has also lived in Gig Harbor and Tacoma.

She is survived by her sister, Catherine Arnold of CT, and by her five children, Patrick (Diane) Smith of Corvallis, OR; Jane Finch of Seattle; Jim (Mary) Smith of Tacoma; Bob (Debi) Smith of Fox Island; and Susan (Jim) Lundy of Portland, OR; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Her family wishes to gratefully thank both the staffs at Merrill Garden in Tacoma and Franciscan Hospice for their kind, loving, and professional care during her time with them.
