Leo Dallas Dylina Sr. passed peacefully on February 6th, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 2nd, 1928 in Roundup, Montana, he was son of Joseph John Dylina and Amy Noffsinger. He was the sixth of eight siblings all of whom predeceased him.
Dad was a graduate of Roundup High School in 1947 then worked a short time for the Union Pacific Railroad. Escaping the hardscrabble life of rural Montana following the great depression and World War II, he joined the Navy in 1948 and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he became a Federal Corrections Officer at McNeil Island Federal Penitentiary for 28 years. Following his retirement from federal service, he worked in the maintenance department at Allenmore Medical Center in Tacoma for another 13 years.
Dad loved life. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and taking care of the family home and yard. Dad’s family, all of whom he loved and loved him dearly, was the most important constant throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 56 years, Charlotte; and his seven children – David Carrington (Christie-Ann), Deborah Tipton, Catherine Neir (Jim), Leo Jr.(Dolly), Christian (Deanna), LouAnn Qunell (Wayne) and Shannon Lunsford (Tim). He was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 1001 North J Street, Tacoma on Tuesday February 13th, 2018 at 11:00am. Visiting hours at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 South Yakima Ave, Tacoma are on Monday from 1:00-5:00pm. Burial will be private.
